About Us
Benjamin O Davis VFW Post 311’s mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts; to serve our veterans, the military and our communities; and to advocate on behalf of all veterans. Incorporated in 2002, VFW Post 311 is a 501 (c)(19) nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces that proudly served our country. Our Post is named after both the father and son, Benjamin O. Davis Sr. and Benjamin O Davis Jr. Thus, our Post name is without a suffix. The VFW dates back to 1899 and was established to protect the rights and benefits of service members. Today, we continue to help veterans learn about their benefits and the benefits eligible for their family members. Over the years, Post 311 has been recognized many times as being an All American and All State Post demonstrating the teamwork and accomplishments made in servicing veterans and our communities.
What We Do
The members of Benjamin O Davis VFW Post 311 are committed to provide programs such as Benefit Advisory services, for veterans, service members and their families. We accomplish this with the assistance of volunteers and donations from our organizational membership, as well as donations from various fundraising activities. We also support and assist veterans and their dependents in their effort to seek and pursue other earned benefits, such as health and education. We assist with finding the necessary resources to allow timely access to high-quality health care. We assist veterans with programs so they may succeed after leaving military service. We strive to support and fulfill the goals of the National and Department (State) programs: Veterans Assistance; Legislative; Youth Activities; Blood Drive; Buddy Poppy; POW/MIA; Veteran Service; and State Commander’s Special Project. The Post also supports the community through other efforts such as our annual Veterans Resource Fairs and/or Stand Downs and Cancer Awareness programs, and scholarships and services for children and students.
